I have actually visited this library and it is incredible, inspiring, and overwhelming. The Walker's are very generous in sharing their masterpiece with many local school children, organizations, etc. -- they had the imagination to make a collection out of all these artifacts and share it with many people....maybe they just don't want the spotlight of the press. It is attached to their home.

I'm surprised that an article showcasing a collection of human achievements has a typo in it!

"drive us an make us human"

"The library’s design, spearheaded by Walker’s wife, is a creative and intellectual feat of its own."

Hey, so, 'Walker's wife'--does she have a name?? Maybe SHE should get some actual credit as well?

You don't need to surround yourself with the world's creations in order to appreciate creativity, or to create something worthwhile on your own. But it probably doesn't hurt, either.

If you could afford to amass this collection, you probably would too. And you'd keep it private not because you didn't want to share it, but because you wanted to defend it from the people who wouldn't appreciate it as much as you do. It's like a zoo for ideas.

The rest of us will be content to surround ourselves with a few good books and dream of the ones we'll make on our own... someday...
